Evaluate 3.1.1 – Differentiation Quest

Evaluate 3.1.1 – Differentiation Quest

Here is a snapshot of some data from a moodle gifted online course that shows the participation for each module.

This shows the administrator of the course the activity and how many views it has had and the dates of the view. This is a good way for instructors to keep tabs on if students are viewing the material and when.

This is screen shot of what the individual student activity log looks like for each student. It shows how many times a student has visited that assignment or material and shows their discussion post.

After viewing some of the data reports in moodle- I could easily see how an instructed could quickly gather information on who is actively participating and who is not. This could definitely reflect in grades. Therefore maybe a face to face or conference (video or phone) might be in order.

Discussion board posts can really be helpful in giving feedback to students. Students can also reflect on each other's discussion posts. This helps instructors see immediately if someone might be struggleing and need some extra help.

Differentiation does not mean MORE work but different. It is not quantity but quality. Course work in all classes- online, face-to-face, or hybrid needs to incorporate this for all students.

Instructors can differentiate in the process, product or content for their students even online!
